kate + joe

...were married at The Four Seasons hotel in Philadelphia.  This luxury hotel should be known as the home of the amazing cheesesteak springroll.  Fancy a bite?  They serve it at the bar.  I'm thinking the two hour drive may be worth it even with three inches of ice to line my route.   Perhaps I'm hungry having spend the better part of the day, assembling footage from Kate and Joe's wedding day.  Baby, it's cold outside, but its hot on the dance floor at least it was that night.
Love the location and the Four Seasons had an amazing spread for us shooters and musicians.  Photography was shot by Jauhien Sasnou.  He is quite a character and a talent.  He shoots digital and film which sets him apart from the standard fare, before getting to his unique composition skills.  Check out his work at, his website.  I'd share some shots of his but I'm afraid I beat him to the punch this go-round

Before we get to the video, I ask you 'friend' me on my facebook page.  Since this is my second page, it's a little slow, but with your help I'll get those numbers up.

My Favorite Christmas Commercials - 2010

Apart from you typical car-under-the-tree or appliance ads, 2010 was a good year for Christmas cheer-filled advertising.

Here are some of my favorites.

GameStop - Holiday 2010

This kid will be on a sitcom.  It'll be about three armed people who don't wrap presents.

John Lewis -  2010 Christmas advert

I came across this online while looking for some cover music.  It sets the appropriate tone for the Holiday, even though I have no idea what John Lewis is besides a dude's name.

Stella Artois - Originally Crafted for Christmas Ad 2010

I'm not sure who directed this one, but I'm sure he's famous. Stella only chooses the top directors, like Wes Anderson or Jonathan Glazer. French is also my preferred choice for translated music.

Coca Cola - Snow Globe

Forget that it costs coke about 2 pennies to make a can of soda, because that profit goes right upstairs to marketing to make commercials like this.

Target - Montage

Target ran away with Christmas.   Check out their stock prices, Walmart may be the giant but Target's the man, due in part to some really inspired advertising.   Great casting and writing set the tone for Christmas.  Filmed like a NIKE ad this one is re-watchable.

Hyundai - Up on a Housetop

Staring Pomplamoose these ads defy logic and are the anti-Lexus.  Appealing to hipsters perhaps, who I suppose don't like big budgets; count me amongst them.  I'm pretty sure this is a one and done campaign, so watch it while you can.

Target -Electronic Santa

These kids are awesome, catchy tune dancing robots. That's all.

Target - Is it time Yet?

Target is hogging the list, but for good reason.  This is another cool spot featuring a reversed Christmas, which looks even better backwards.

Gamestop - Power Saver

I love commercials that get the message across in a subtle funny way. One that doesn't- the Toyota Highlander commercials with an euro-trash kid telling everyone that parents are losers if they don't buy their SUV.  Here the same message is conveyed but reversed.  The espresso cup is my favorite touch.

Tree of Life

"Unless you love
your life will flash by"

Terrence Malick returns with what appears to be an amazing new film.  I can't imagine what is in store for us.  Everything he puts to film moves and inspires and the trailer alone does that for me.

Just Breathe

I've used Pearl Jam's Just Breathe before.  Its one of my favorite recent songs.  I'm currently editing a wedding that the Bride requested the same.  It's a brilliant choice and will hold up for decades, so when watching their wedding with their children and grandchildren it'll sound as good as it does today.

Pearl Jam's front man Eddie Vedder, is one of  music's true gentleman. Just last year he gave way for a marriage proposal on stage in Salt Lake City.  After the bride-to-be smartly accepted, he serenaded the couple with, you guessed it, Just Breathe.

Check it out.

Homemade Marshmallows

This looks pretty awesome. May have to try it while
waiting for an edit to finish rendering, but probably not.

Get Forever Lucky

As I mentioned before there were going to be changes. xposedfilm and Downbeach Design where two companies I ran with overlapping products and clients. It became a bit much and so I've combined them both into one company. That company is Forever Lucky Films.    All wedding and commercial  productions will be under one roof.

You can find us at the new site. www.foreverluckyfilms.com .   I've imported my blog to that sites blog.  I'm excited to add new clients and new features.

SEE EVERYONE THERE

12/2/10

Welcome to the new blog.  It was time to simplify and amplify.  Downbeach Design and xposedfilm have been great sites but it became a bit much and confusing even for me.  They will live on eventually, but in different ways.

What you'll find here is what you've come to expect from us, plus more.   More shooters, more updates and maybe even some photography.   Stay tuned.
