Megan & Frank

While suffering from a minor bout of editor's block I thought I'd take a few moments to refresh the 'ole blog. Megan and Frank's wedding was one I had circled on the calendar for a few reasons. Megan is sister to good my wife and I friends. They were included in the highlight as well as their new baby boy.

Also, it meant I was able to commute via Ferry. I love the Cape May-Lewes ferry. I can escape the collective nightmares my least favorite numbers 95, 42 and 76. The ceremony was held at St. Brendan the Navigator (kinda sounds like a character from Lord of the Rings)and the reception at The Stone Harbor Country Club.

Check out Megan and Frank. They're fun, friendly and now they're married.

Jackie & Dan

Every year I have a day most request. This year it happened to be June 4th. First to book it was Jackie and Dan. They booked way early and I'm pleased they did. It was a beautiful day, threat of rain evaporated giving us perfect blue skies and fluffy white clouds.

While editing I used Mumford and Sons song The Cave. You can't beat them for melodies but their lyrics can be harsh even if it is metaphorically.  Per their request I used Bruno Mars for the final and it matched the video almost without fail.   That being said I thought I'd give you the Mumford version here since you may have already seen the Bruno Mars version.   You can view it below.

Brave New World

Having spent eight years working in an office I grew accustomed that lifestyle - alarm clocks, commutes, work lunches. Then I started working from home. The pluses - no alarm clock, no commute and going where I want for lunch. Career bliss it seems until you discover there are downsides to living at your office, that being you live in your office.

So in December when I moved a few hours south and changed the name to Forever Lucky I knew to expand the brand, I had to bring in new talent and we've done that. Expand beyond wedding videography which we're doing with some photography and commercial work. As well as some short film and documentary development planned for 2012.

We're also happy to announce we'll be moving to a new office in Berlin Maryland. My wife and I fell in love with the town after visiting and knew this is where the office should be. If you're not familiar Runaway Bride was shot here.

It'll be a couple months before we're open, but it's a great spot. It'll be part office, part studio and part gallery. How much of each the future will tell, but we'll be sure to keep you updated.

Katie and Stephen's Cairnwood Mansion Wedding

The Cairnwood Mansion is a throwback to the guilded age. It's not hard to imagine Great Gatsby inspired parties with the oil and shipping tycoons of the roaring twenties, music filling the room and light spilling out from every open window on a cool spring day. A similar scene for Katie and Stephen's wedding.

Late in the day, when the party was in full effect, I looked at the house from the great lawn and it appeared to mimic a postcard from a party 90 years before. I hoped to capture that timeless energy in their highlight film. Here is a bit of that film here. Music from Camille Saint-Saens "Carnival of the Animals". A piece he composed but would not allow it publishing or to be played in public until after his death in 1922. Photography by Dollface Studio.

Jackie + Marc

Kris and John shot Jackie and Marc's while I was across town shooting Tara and Brian's wedding.. I couldn't wait to get all the footage from them. I knew the song I wanted to use - the XX remix of Florence and the Machine's You Got the Love With Dollface Studio handling the photography we were guaranteed great setups.
